Season series: The Ottawa Senators won three of five games against the Boston Bruins last season. Kyle Turris (three goals, two assists) and Mark Stone (one goal, four assists) led the Senators with five points each. Loui Eriksson scored two goals and five points for the Bruins; Ryan Spooner had four goals in two games.
Bruins team scope: Defenseman Torey Krug did not play the final two periods in a 6-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday and his status for the game is unknown after leaving with an apparent injury. Boston had a 3-1 lead in the third period before allowing five third period goals in the final 9:39 of the game. "That was our team not respecting the game of hockey," coach Claude Julien told the Bruins website. Boston plays one game on the road before returning home for three games; they are 11-2-2 on the road. "We definitely blew it there, we know that," Brad Marchand said. "We have to learn from this and be better [Sunday]."
Senators team scope: Forwards Curtis Lazar (undisclosed), Milan Michalek (finger) and defenseman Cody Ceci (upper body) did not practice with their teammates on Saturday. Coach Dave Cameron told the Senators website after practice Ceci is doubtful for Sunday and Lazar will be a game-time decision. Cameron also said that Michalek, who hasn't played since Dec. 1, is getting closer. Right wing Bobby Ryan, who missed a Senators 2-1 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday, was back at practice. Ryan skated on a line with Mike Hoffman and center Mika Zibanejad, and Turris was between Stone and Zack Smith, according to the Ottawa Sun. Alex Chiasson dropped down from Ryan's spot on the Zibanejad line to take Lazar's right wing position on the third line with center Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Dave Dziurzynski. Goalie Craig Anderson is expected to start. The Senators have gone a mediocre 5-6-1 in December.
