SENATORS (10-5-5) at STARS (17-4-0)
TV: NHLN, FS-SW, RDS, TSN5
Season series: The Dallas Stars swept the Ottawa Senators in 2014-15 with a 5-4 win at home on Jan. 13 and 6-3 victory in Ottawa on Jan. 29. Defenseman John Klingberg led the Stars with three goals and an assist. Forward Bobby Ryan paced the Senators with a goal and three assists.
Senators team scope: Goalie Craig Anderson, who made 61 saves in back-to-back shutouts against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers, will make his fifth straight start, coach Dave Cameron told the Senators website. Ottawa recalled forward Colin Greening and goalie Chris Driedger from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League and reassigned goalie Matthew O'Connor to Binghamton on Monday. Greening replaces Matt Puempel, who was sent to Binghamton on Sunday. Driedger will back up Anderson. The recovery of regular backup Andrew Hammond (concussion) has stalled, according to Cameron. The Senators coach is pleased with their direction after the consecutive shutouts. "We're trending the right way," Cameron said. "We're playing a better 200-foot game and we're also playing for 60 minutes in all three zones."
Stars team scope: Defenseman Jason Demers (lower body) did not practice Monday. He left in the second period of the Stars' 3-0 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday and did not return. Coach Lindy Ruff told the Sabres website Demers is a possibility for Tuesday. Defenseman Jordie Benn, who missed the game Saturday because of illness, practiced. He was paired with Demers' usual partner Johnny Oduya. If Demers can't play Jamie Oleksiak likely will take his spot. Oleksiak replaced Benn on Saturday. Dallas is first in the NHL standings and has won five in a row and eight of its past nine games. Dallas also has the fourth best home record at 8-2-0 after finishing 26th last season with a 17-16-8 record at American Airlines Center. "It's just keeping it simple," defenseman Alex Goligoski told the Dallas Morning News. "We can get excited at home sometimes and turn pucks over. We know that we go on the road and win games by playing simple. You get a little fear in your belly when you are on the road, and you just want to get it deep and keep things simple. We just have to play that way at home too."
