DEVILS (10-8-1) at CANUCKS (8-7-6)
TV: MSG, SNP, SNV
Season series: Kyle Palmieri's goal in overtime gave the New Jersey Devils a 4-3 win against the Vancouver Canucks at Prudential Center on Nov. 8. Palmieri, Adam Henrique and Mike Cammalleri each had a goal and an assist in the victory.
Devils team scope: It's the finale of New Jersey's three-game trip to Western Canada; the Devils have been outscored 8-3 in losses at the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers. Cory Schneider, who didn't play in the 5-1 loss at Edmonton on Friday, will get the start in goal against his former team. Forward Patrik Elias, who has been out because of a right knee injury, will not play against the Canucks but there is a chance he will make his season debut later this week. "I'll talk to [Devils coach John Hynes] about what he feels, what he sees, how he feels about me getting in there," Elias told Northjersey.com Saturday. "I feel OK. I've done a few practices with the boys and I think that I can help. Conditioning-wise, I feel fine. Knee-wise, I feel OK. I think this is as good as it's going to get and I feel fine on the ice. So, it's pretty much to have the talk with them and see when the best time is for them."
Canucks team scope: Vancouver will play its second game in as many nights after it ended a four-game losing streak with a 6-3 win against the Chicago Blackhawks at Rogers Arena on Saturday. Daniel Sedin had a hat trick and an assist and Henrik Sedin had a career-high five points (one goal, four assists) in the victory. It was the Canucks' first game back at home after going 1-4-2 on a seven-game road trip. "We played them in Jersey, and they're a tough team," Henrik Sedin said of the Devils. "They skate, they're a fast team. They still play well defensively and whenever you beat them, [Schneider] is back there making saves. It's going to be a tough test for us [Sunday]." Vancouver will again be without center Brandon Sutter because of an abdominal strain. He has missed the past five games. The Canucks recalled defenseman Taylor Fedun from Utica of the American Hockey League on Saturday. He had two goals and four assists in 14 AHL games. Fedun did not play against the Blackhawks.
