BLACKHAWKS (11-7-2) at CANUCKS (7-7-6)
TV: CBC, SN, TVA Sports, WGN
Season series: The Vancouver Canucks won two of three games against the Chicago Blackhawks last season, including a 4-1 victory at Rogers Arena on Nov. 23, 2014, in which Jannik Hansen had a hat trick. Bo Horvat had a goal and three assists in the three games to lead the Canucks. Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford went 1-1-1 with a 3.00 goals-against average and .910 save percentage.
Blackhawks team scope: Chicago will likely be without forward Teuvo Teravainen (upper-body injury) for a second straight game and might be without forward Marko Dano (illness). Dano missed the Blackhawks' 2-1 overtime loss at the Calgary Flames on Friday and is questionable. Right wing Patrick Kane is looking to extend his 15-game point streak. Crawford will likely start after backup Scott Darling made 35 saves against the Flames. The Blackhawks are 3-6-0 on the road and were outplayed in the first two games of their "Circus Trip" by the Edmonton Oilers (4-3 overtime win) and Flames. Regardless, they've earned three of four points to start the trip. "It's definitely not frustrating to get three out of four points," Darling told the Blackhawks website. "Maybe we didn't have our best game [Friday], so we can definitely improve and build off this game ... I think we'll be fine."
Canucks team scope: Vancouver will get left wing Brandon Prust (ankle) back from injured reserve after missing 11 games. The Canucks may also get right wing Radim Vrbata back after he missed Vancouver's 4-1 loss at the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday with a groin injury; Vrbata skated by himself at practice Friday. Defenseman Ben Hutton (lower body), center Brandon Sutter (lower body) and defenseman Luca Sbisa (left hand) are day-to-day but not expected to play. Canucks coach Willie Desjardins hasn't named a starting goalie, but said backup Jacob Markstrom will likely start one of the back-to-back home games against the Blackhawks and New Jersey Devils. Starter Ryan Miller leads the NHL in minutes played. Vancouver has lost four straight games (0-3-1) and was 1-4-2 during a seven-game road trip that ended with a 4-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday. "These games are a big test coming up for us," Prust said. "We're not pressing the panic button, but we definitely have a sense of urgency."
