{allcanada} WHL: Bobylev scores OT winner, Royals top Raiders

 

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - Vladimir Bobylev scored the overtime winner as the Victoria Royals snapped the Prince Albert Raiders' seven-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory on Friday night in Western Hockey League action.

Bobylev beat Rylan Parenteau 2:08 into extra time to improve Victoria's record to 9-5-1.

Alex Forsberg opened the scoring on the power play before Joe Hicketts added another power-play goal in the third period.

Hunter Warner tied the game at 1-1 midway through the second for the Raiders (11-2-2). Jesse Lees gave Prince Albert a brief lead with a late goal in the second period.

Coleman Vollrath got the win in net, making 22 saves. Parenteau was dominant in the Raiders net, finsihing the game by turning aside 46 shots.

The Royals went 2 for 4 on the power play while Prince Albert was scoreless on two chances.

BLADES 4 BRONCOS 0

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. — Brock Hamm stopped all 36 shots he faced and Schael Higson scored twice as Saskatoon blanked the Broncos.

Cameron Hebig and Lukus MacKenzie had goals in the third period for the Blades (7-4-3).

Landon Bow kicked out 20 shots in net for Swift Current (5-7-2).

CHIEFS 3 REBELS 1

RED DEER, Alta. — Jason Fram and Riley Whittingham had power-play goals in the first period as Spokane got past the Rebels.

Kailer Yamamoto also found the back of the net in the first for the Chiefs (6-7-2).

Colton Bobyk answered with a power-play goal of his own in the third for Red Deer (10-5-0), which had a five-game winning streak halted.

WHEAT KINGS 3 ICE 2 (OT)

CRANBROOK, B.C. — John Quenneville scored 3:44 into overtime and added two assists as Brandon slipped past the Ice.

Nolan Patrick, on the power play, and Tyler Coulter rounded out the attack for the Wheat Kings (10-3-2).

Luke Philp and Zak Zborosky chipped in offensively for Kootenay (3-11-2).

WARRIORS 5 PATS 1

REGINA — Dryden Hunt had a hat trick as Moose Jaw downed the Pats.

Brett Howden and Jiri Smejkal supplied the rest of the Warriors (8-3-2) offence.

Sam Steel opened the scoring in the first for Regina (6-6-1).

BLAZERS 7 HURRICANES 3

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Collin Shirley, Gage Quinney and Matt Revel had a goal and two assists each as the Blazers snapped Lethbridge's eight-game winning streak.

Jesse Zaharichuk, Quinn Benjafield, Nick Chyzowski and Garrett Pilon also scored for Kamloops (5-8-0).

Giorgio Estephan struck twice for the Hurricanes (10-3-0), who also had a goal from Ryley Lindgren.

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Jordan Topping scored the overtime winner as the Americans beat Vancouver to snap a four-game losing skid.

Parker Bowles opened the scoring 10 seconds into the second period for Tri-City (5-8-1).

Ty Ronning tied the game 1-1 with a goal in the third for the Giants (4-7-3).

COUGARS 2 ROCKETS 1

KELOWNA, B.C. — Brogan O'Brien scored the winner as Prince George edged the Rockets.

Jesse Gabrielle had a short-handed goal to open the scoring for the Cougars (7-6-0).

Cole Linaker had a power-play goal for Kelowna (9-5-0), which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.

WINTERHAWKS 2 SILVERTIPS 1

EVERETT, Wash. — Rodrigo Abols had a power-play goal late in the third period as Porland rallied to beat the Silvertips and keep its win streak alive.

Paul Bittner tied the game 1-1 in the third for the Winterhawks (7-6-0), who have now won five in a row.

Devon Skoleski scored for Everett (5-4-1).
