{allcanada} OHL: Marner, Piccinich lead Knights over Spitfires

 

LONDON, Ont. - Mitch Marner and JJ Piccinich each had a pair of goals and Christian Dvorak added four assists as the London Knights doubled up the visiting Windsor Spitfires 6-3 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Brandon Crawley and Aaron Berish also found the back of the net for the Knights (9-2-2) while Matthew Tkachuk helped out with three assists of his own.

Mikhail Sergachev, Christian Fischer and Markus Soberg scored for the Spitfires (9-3-3).

London's Tyler Parsons made 27 saves for the win as Michael Giugovaz turned aside 33-of-38 shots for Windsor.

The Knights went 2 for 8 on the power play while the Spitfires converted twice on seven chances with the man advantage.

Windsor forward Luke Boka was handed a game misconduct for cross checking at 7:07 of the second period.

PETES 6 FRONTENACS 3

KINGSTON, Ont. — Hunter Garlent had two goals and an assist and Matthew Mancina made 37 saves as Peterborough snapped a six-game slide by doubling up the Frontenacs.

Logan DeNoble, Jonathan Ang, Adam Timleck and Steven Lorentz also scored for the Petes (6-6-3), who also brought Kingston's four-game win streak to an end.

Ted Nichol, Juho Lammikko and Lawson Crouse responded for Kingston (9-3-2). Jeremy Helvig kicked out 34-of-39 shots in defeat.

ICEDOGS 6 STING 2

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Jordan Maletta and Christopher Paquette both scored twice and Brent Moran made 22 saves as Niagara toppled Sarnia.

Brendan Perlini had a goal and two helpers for the IceDogs (6-7-1) and Nick Pastorious added a single goal.

Nikita Korostelev scored once for the Sting (8-4-1) and picked up an assist on a goal from Daniel Nikandrov. Justin Fazio stopped 24 shots in a losing cause.

GENERALS 5 WOLVES 4 (OT)

SUDBURY, Ont. — Anthony Cirelli scored 2:02 into the extra period and Jeremy Brodeur made 26 saves to lift Oshawa over the Wolves.

Michael Dal Colle scored once and set up two more for the Generals (6-7-2), who also got goals from Sam Harding, Owen McDade and Domenic Commisso.

Pavel Jenys led the Sudbury (5-9-1) offence with a goal and two assists while Dmitry Sokolov, Patrick Murphy and Danny Desrochers added a goal apiece. Zack Bowman stopped 41 shots in defeat.

SPIRIT 3 ATTACK 2

SAGINAW, Mich. — Blake Clark broke a 2-2 deadlock late in the third period and Evan Cormier made 23 saves as the Spirit slipped past Owen Sound.

Kris Bennett and Artem Artemov also scored for Saginaw (6-6-2) and Devan Paliani chipped in with two assists.

Thomas Schemitsch and Ethan Szypula supplied the offence for the Attack (7-6-2) while Michael McNiven turned aside 16 shots in a losing cause.

GREYHOUNDS 5 67'S 2

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. — Zachary Senyshyn struck twice and Brandon Halverson made 20 saves as the Greyhounds downed Ottawa.

Boris Katchouk, Makar Tokarev and Jack Kopacka also scored for Sault Ste. Marie (6-6-2).

Artur Tyanulin and Jeremiah Addison found the back of the net for the 67's (8-6-1). Leo Lazarev stopped 27-of-31 shots in defeat.

RANGERS 4 BATTALION 3 (SO)

KITCHENER, Ont. — Brandon Robinson scored twice in regulation and then added the shootout winner as the Rangers got by North Bay.

Mason Kohn had a goal and an assist for Kitchener (11-0-3), which got a 27-save outing from Dawson Carty.

Miles Liberati, Mark Shoemaker and Mike Baird had goals for the Battalion (6-6-2). Jake Kment stopped 30 shots in a losing effort.

STEELHEADS 2 BULLDOGS 0

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Jack Flinn kicked out all 28 shots his way as the Steelheads blanked Hamilton.

Daniel Muzito-Bagenda and Luke Kutkevicius supplied the scoring for Mississauga (7-6-2).

Charlie Graham turned away 19-of-21 shots for the Bulldogs (5-8-0).
