Season series: The Montreal Canadiens and Calgary Flames split two games last season, with the road team winning each. Montreal's win came on Oct. 28, 2014, when Carey Price made 37 saves in a 2-1 shootout victory at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Canadiens team scope: Montreal came to Western Canada for three games after a perfect 9-0-0 start; the Canadiens will try to avoid going home with a third straight loss. They led the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 late in the second period Thursday but allowed four straight goals in a 4-3 loss. It was the first time the Canadiens have lost in regulation after leading by three goals since Feb. 3, 2008. "We tried to be fancy, and it was really frustrating to see our team play that way, and we got what we deserved," coach Michel Therrien said." Price, who allowed four goals on 27 shots, could get the night off. Therrien has yet to play his starter on back-to-back nights, and backup Mike Condon has allowed three goals in winning his two starts.

Flames team scope: Calgary recalled goaltender Karri Ramo from Stockton of the American Hockey League on Thursday. Jonas Hiller left the game at the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday in the third period with a lower-body injury; he was relieved by Joni Ortio, who was charged with the 5-4 shootout loss. The Flames are back home after going 0-2-1 on a three-game road trip in which they allowed 12 goals. It's the first home game of the season for defenseman TJ Brodie, who broke his hand during the preseason and made his season debut Wednesday. "I felt that TJ Brodie was one of the best players on the ice," coach Bob Hartley said. "He was flying. It seemed like he never missed a beat."
