It's official! After months of rumors, Rachel McAdams has signed on to star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel's next buzzworthy comic book adaptation, "Doctor Strange."

Although her specific role has not yet been revealed, TheWrap's Jeff Sneider got the official confirmation about her appearance in the film from McAdams herself during an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival for her new movie "Spotlight."

McAdams told the LA Times' Amy Kaufman in July that while she's not a comic book expert, she is plenty familiar with the genre and reads them on her own.

"I'm certainly not a comic book snob," McAdams says. "I really enjoy them and reading them, I think the 'Doctor Strange' franchise is really interesting and Benedict is amazing and I love graphic novels. I love that they are coming to light."

"Doctor Strange" will likely follow the origin story of neurosurgeon Stephen Vincent Strange (Cumberbatch) who, after a horrific accident, discovers the hidden world of alternate dimensions and magic. He eventually becomes a protector of Earth against a number of mystical threats. In addition to Cumberbatch, McAdams joins a cast that includes Oscar-nominated actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Tilda Swinton, to be directed by Scott Derrickson ("Sinister").

"Doctor Strange" is scheduled for release on Nov. 4, 2016.
