PARADISE, N.L. - Winnipeg's Jennifer Jones hit a draw to the eight-foot with her final throw to score two for a 7-6 win over Calgary's Chelsea Carey on Friday afternoon at the Tour Challenge.
Both teams have 2-2 records after 11 draws at the first Grand Slam of Curling event of the season.
In other early games, Tracy Fleury of Sudbury, Ont., beat Scotland's Eve Muirhead 9-5 and Kristy McDonald of Winnipeg topped Sherry Middaugh of Coldwater, Ont., 7-5.
Ottawa's Rachel Homan was the lone unbeaten rink at 3-0. The top eight teams in the 15-rink field will make the playoffs.
Winnipeg's Mike McEwen took a 3-0 record into his afternoon game against Calgary's Kevin Koe. Winnipeg's Reid Carruthers was also undefeated at 3-0.
Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was one of three rinks tied in third place at 3-1. Round-robin play was scheduled to continue later Friday at the Paradise Double Ice Complex.
