It started off as a sweet Father's Day post honoring Ryan Reynolds.

But after Blake Lively posted the snapshot featuring her husband holding daughter James in a Líllébaby to Instagram, her followers immediately took notice of their baby girl's incorrect positioning in the carrier.

The actor has learned from the momentary mishap, but admits it's likely not his last baby blunder.

"The baby is not properly secured in the vessel that I'm wearing there," he says during a Tuesday interview with Matt Lauer for Today.

"I'm a first-time dad and that is not the first mistake I've made and I can guarantee it won't be the last."

And, rest assured, adds Reynolds, James has been carried correctly ever since the controversial candid. "I had never used that particular carrier before so every other time it's been perfect," he says.

As Reynolds, 38, and Lively, 27, continue to learn the ropes of parenthood, 6-month-old James is making huge strides of her own.

"We're getting a lot of sounds, nothing that sounds like discernible English at this point. I'm mocking her a lot," the Self/less star joked Tuesday on Live with Kelly and Michael.

"She's getting there though, [she's] starting to form a few words."

While the actor does the press rounds for his new film, in theaters now, Lively and James have been staying in Bangkok. And although the distance and time apart can be difficult, Reynolds realizes the balancing act between his personal and professional lives could be much harder.

"I'm incredibly grateful and lucky to have the job that I have, to be totally frank and serious. I don't take it for granted for a second," he explains to AOL Build.

"We have long hours, but we also get breaks, unlike most people who get one week off a year — I might have three months off. I really cherish that, especially having a daughter. Those three months used to drive me insane, when I was a young buck, single and carefree. Now I just want to be with my daughter."

He continues, "When I wrapped Deadpool five weeks ago, within an hour — I'm not joking, I still had chunks of glue from the scar makeup on my face — I was boarding a plane to Bangkok so I could get to my wife and baby right away. I'll do anything to be with them. But the balance is not as hard as your average working American or Canadian — I'm afforded a little more time."
