With Kevin Glenn out with a pectoral tear, the Saskatchewan Roughriders are set to start rookie Brett Smith at quarterback against the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday night.
Riders head coach Corey Chamblin made the announcement Wednesday, adding Glenn would not need to undergo surgery. He did not provide a timetable for Glenn's return, however.
Smith came in to Saskatchewan's 31-21 loss to the Tiger-Cats last week, completing two-of-four passes for 12 yards after Glenn exited the game due to injury.
The 23-year-old Wyoming graduate signed with the Riders in February.
He threw for 76 touchdowns to 28 interceptions during his collegiate career.
The Riders are still searching for their first win of the season and dropped each of their first four games by four points or less.
