Paul Byron signed a one-year contract with the Calgary Flames on Sunday, avoiding arbitration. Byron's hearing was scheduled for Thursday.
Financial terms were not released, but Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported the contract is worth $900,000.
Byron scored six goals and 19 points in 57 games with Calgary last season. He has 17 goals and 48 points in 138 NHL games.
Selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the sixth round (No. 179) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Byron was acquired by the Flames with defenseman Chris Butler for Robyn Regehr, Ales Kotalik and a second-round pick in the 2012 draft.
