{allcanada} Bombers QB Willy takes reps at practice

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Blue Bombers starting quarterback Drew Willy traded reps with backup QB Brian Brohm on Tuesday; a good indication he will be behind centre Thursday against the Lions.

Willy was injured in the third quarter of Winnipeg's 32-3 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday night. The injury occurred when Edmonton's Eddie Steele hit the quarterback down low on a combined tackle with Marcus Howard. Willy was helped off the field and replaced by Brohm.

Brohm has thrown for 217 yards with no touchdowns and four interceptions while appearing in three games this season.

Montreal Alouettes

The Alouettes added quarterback Anthony Boone and receiver B.J. Cunningham to the roster on Tuesday. The club also released quarterback Andrew Manley, as well as defensive lineman Markell Carter.

Boone played four seasons for the Duke University Blue Devils, where he completed 540 of 923 passes for 5,789 yards while throwing 38 touchdown passes. During his time at Duke, the Weddington, NC native led the team to 28 wins and three Bowl games. He was selected a captain for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Cunningham was selected in the sixth round (183rd total) by the Miami Dolphins in the 2012 NFL Draft after re-writing the Michigan State Spartans record book, where he completed his career with 218 receptions good for 3,086 yards, both school records. His 25 career-receiving touchdowns are second best in Spartans' history. The 26-year-old international receiver was also part of the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears practice squads. He joins the Alouettes practice roster.

BC Lions

The Lions could have defensive back Ryan Phillips available this week against Winnipeg. The 11-year veteran injured his hamstring in the first game of the season.

Calgary Stampeders

The Stampeders added three players to the practice roster, including national receiver Jabari Arthur, who returns for a third tour of duty with the Red and White. Also signing practice-roster agreements are national defensive back and special-teamer Corbin Sharun and international offensive lineman Nate Menkin.

The Stampeders originally drafted Arthur in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2007 CFL draft. He was traded to Winnipeg in 2009 but returned to the Stamps in 2010 after being released by the Blue Bombers. He remained with the Stamps until June 14 when he was released. In 71 career games, the Montreal native has 96 receptions for 1,148 yards and six touchdowns.

Sharun joins the Stampeders after five seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos. He has 77 career special-teams tackles in 72 games including 25 tackles in 2011 when he led the Eskimos and was second in the CFL.

Menkin played four games as the starting left tackle for the Ottawa RedBlacks in 2014 including the expansion franchise's first-ever game. He was signed by the National Football League's Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and has also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens.
