The Ottawa Senators are close to inking a two-year deal with head coach Dave Cameron, according to the Ottawa Sun. An announcement is expected "any day now."
Cameron took over as Ottawa's bench boss in December 2014 upon the firing of coach Paul MacLean, and led the Senators to a thrilling playoff run. Though they were eliminated in the first round by the Montreal Canadiens, the team made great strides in becoming a playoff-calibre squad.
The report also indicates that Cameron is in the process of selecting his assistant coach, with all signs pointing to Andre Tourigny, who recently resigned after two seasons with the Colorado Avalanche.
The Cameron-and-Tourigny tandem led Team Canada to world junior silver in 2011.
The assistant coach position has been left vacant since the passing of Mark Reeds to cancer in April.
