{allcanada} Former Leafs goalie Pogge seeks return to NHL

Match.ca

The last time we saw Justin Pogge in the NHL he was sporting a bloated 4.36 goals-against average and a .844 save percentage while playing in seven games for the 2008-09 Toronto Maple Leafs.

Pogge has spent the past few years providing steady goaltending to teams in Sweden and Italy. The former third-round draft pick is eyeing a return to the NHL, preferably on a one-way deal, NBC's Pro Hockey Talk reports.

"I would love a deal that would give me the best chance at getting back into the NHL," Pogge said. "A one-way deal would ideal."

Pogge played with Farjestads BK Karlstad of the Swedish Hockey League last season, posting a 2.01 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage in 30 games. Still, without an NHL appearance in six seasons a one-way deal seems unlikely at this point.

Pogge has one year remaining on his current deal with Farjestads BK, according to PHT. He has an NHL-out clause that he can exercise if he signs with a North American club prior to June 15.

Pogge made stops in the ECHL with the Bakersfield Condors and in the AHL with the San Antonio Rampage, Albany River Rats, Charlotte Checkers, and Portland Pirates prior to departing for Italy to join Ritten Renon in 2012.
