The Vancouver Canucks re-signed goaltender Jacob Markstrom to a two-year contract, general manager Jim Benning announced Monday.

The contract will average $1.55 million per season, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reported.

Markstrom, 25, played three games for the Canucks this season, when he was 22-7-2 with a 1.88 goals-against average and .934 save percentage in 32 games for the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.

Markstrom led the Comets to the Calder Cup Finals, which they lost to the Manchester Monarchs in five games. He had a 2.11 GAA and .925 save percentage in 23 playoff games.

The Canucks traded backup goalie Eddie Lack to the Carolina Hurricanes at the 2015 NHL Draft on Saturday for a third-round pick this year and a seventh-round pick in 2016.

Vancouver's starting goaltender, Ryan Miller, is owed $12 million over the next two years, according to war-on-ice.com, and will be an unrestricted free agent in 2017-18.

The Canucks also re-signed right wing Linden Vey to a one-year contract.

Vey, 23, had 10 goals and 24 points in 75 games this season after being acquired from the Los Angeles Kings last June.
