The Montreal Alouettes are holding out hope Jonathan Crompton's injury isn't long term, but he definitely won't play Friday against the Calgary Stampeders.
TSN's John Lu reports Crompton won't be available this week but might be able to practice and be eligible for next week. The Als are still calling Crompton's injury a bruised shoulder.
Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette reported Monday the Als will place Crompton on the six-game injured list.
Crompton didn't return for the second half of the Als' Week 1 loss to the Ottawa Redblacks after suffering a bruised shoulder to his throwing arm.
Meanwhile, after Canadian Brandon Bridge took first team reps in practice Monday, fellow rookie Rakeem Cato got first team reps Tuesday. Head coach Tom Higgins said he still hasn't decided who will start Friday, but both Bridge and Cato will play.
