Re: [SurroundSound] Re: Modern Day Surround Sound?!

I'm sorry to hear that, this forum used to be a lot busier and informative but i suspect you may have been got at by an errant QQ-er who wanted to show his ignoance by putting you down, a typical trick over there.

Actually I'm not sure this forum is exactly "friendly", I gave up asking anything here because they treat me like a flaming idiot and that's not just me.

I just fail to see how the members are hurting the cause. Not sure how me linking a forum about a simple question progressed to this but all is good. I don't control that board and don't want to, just sticking up for a few good people. Sorry that they don't do it your way whatever that is. Good luck and keep up the fight in any way you choose...

Yes, sarcasm aside, your spot on. The quadraphonic movement will stay where it is with no possibility of any advancement while that group and certain members rule the roost.

And while people like yourself keep there's heads firmly stuck in the ground it will stay like that.

Perhaps that's what you all deserve, because that's all your getting from now on  :-}

Hard to understand why they wouldn't love you over at that other forum...all the charm and all. It's becoming much clearer now! So I know nothing and there is no good info over at QQ. OK

Surely Dolby Digital is still more widespread than DTS for most home consumers. Not all DVD players and/or amps can handle DTS.

Unfriendly is the last adjective I would use to describe quadraphonicquad. If you made enemies over there you might want to check yourself. There is always a couple of douches on every forum and QQ is no different in that respect. Maybe they have a problem with you making money off your conversions? I don't know or care but I have had very good experiences on that site.

As for knowledge, AVS (audio video science forum) is my goto for technical stuff. QQ is more about the music. Steve Hoffman Forum is like that too except they don't care for multichannel stuff...

The original question is not a very technical question to begin with. You don't have to be very "knowledgeable" to give an opinion on the subject. Once again I will suggest bluray format is the future. I will add DTS on DVD is the most universal...

I think you need to be careful with QQ, it's a very unfriendly place, with little to no real knowledge.

If you don't want to sell many copies then go with Blu-Ray, but as Universal has found, DVD-A/V is more than alive and kicking, it's probably selling better than SACD & Blu-Ray together.

Why? Because almost everyone has a DVD player. It's a simple as that.

http://www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/forum.php Will answer any questions you have. Very friendly place...

Bluray discs is the future for multichannel audio but DVD-Audio and SACD is still alive and kicking

Great Community! I am proud to be here with you all. However, I am trying to understand something and am having a very hard time getting information from anyone or even anything on the internet. I am a music producer. I want to deliver my music in a Quadraphonic format to my listeners. My questions are: 1.) Do any of the smartphones, mp3 players, etc. have the ability to stream or play a multichannel music file? From what I've found, they only deliver Stereo sound but there MUST be a way (plugin, app) that can do this? 2.) What medium do I have to use in order to get the music to my listeners? I understand that CD is not an option so I assume that I could do a Quadraphonic mix on DVD and/or Blu Ray? Is that true and are those my only options? I would love to be able to stream music in a 4 channel format but keep hitting a brick wall when trying to get ANY info. on how multi channel audio is being used in todays environments. I appreciate everyone on this page and am looking forward to any insight regarding my questions. I apologize if they are uneducated, but like I stated, I am a newbie when it comes to producing in 4 channel audio.

Respectfully,
--Ivan
