No, I understood that. But given that the CD-4 frequency response only went to 15kHz, and the SNR would be worse than the potential 60dB of pure stereo records, what could you possibly gain from more bits or samples??
Sorry to hear about your deceased HDDs - presumably you weren't doing thorough backups in those days.

I wasn't upscaling (upsampling) dts recordings. Upscaling my playback format and rerecording my quads at a higher resolution.
