I think the best option for youvis to decode in DTS / Dolby DVD- thats the common format in recent Steven Wilson remixes, for example. 99% of the DVD players today can play DTS and can play Dolby as a fallback. It is a lossy format, but still sounds pretty decent (more information is kept than MP3 for example).
You can offer a DVD physical copy or just the streams themselves (.DTS or .AC3 files) and those can be played using VLC, foobar etc.
