MALMO, Sweden — Natalie Spooner scored two goals and assisted on another to lead Canada to a 6-2 win over Finland at the women's world hockey championship Tuesday.
Canada wrapped up the preliminary round with a 2-1 record in Pool A. The United States went 3-0 in the same pool with a 9-2 win over Russia.
Canada and the U.S. both secured byes to Friday's semifinal round.
Brigette Lacquette, Jennifer Wakefield, Courtney Birchard and Emily Clark also scored for Canada. Captain Jenni Hiirikoski countered with a pair of goals for Finland.
Genevieve Lacasse stopped 15 of 17 shots for the win. Finnish counterpart Eveliina Suonpaa made 23 saves in the loss.
