The Edmonton Oilers are interested in acquiring goaltending help and they've been watching the Toronto Maple Leafs netminders for the past two weeks, according to TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie.

@renlavoietva : Oilers are looking for goaltenders. They were looking at what the Maple Leafs goalies in the last few weeks.

Goaltending has been an issue in Edmonton for years and the current edition of the team led by Ben Scrivens and Viktor Fasth allows 3.24 goals per game, which ranks 27th in the NHL.

It was reported on Saturday's Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada that Maple Leafs starter Jonathan Bernier, who is 18-19-5 this season, could be made available for a trade. Toronto's other goalie, James Reimer, is no stranger to trade rumours either.

Interestingly enough, both Maple Leafs netminders are unbeaten against the Oilers in their respective careers. Bernier is 3-0 with a .921 save percentage, 2.32 goals-against average and one shutout against Edmonton, while Reimer is 4-0 with a .949 save percentage, 1.74 GAA and one shutout.

Other goalies that could be on the move prior to Monday's 3 p.m. EST trade deadline include San Jose Sharks goalie Antti Niemi and Michal Neuvirth of the Buffalo Sabres -- both are set to become unrestricted free agents at the end of the season.
