WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets will have right wing Blake Wheeler in their lineup when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday.

The Jets activated Wheeler from injured reserve Sunday and assigned forward Carl Klingberg to St. John's of the American Hockey League. Wheeler had missed the past two games because of a lower-body injury.

Winnipeg did not hold a morning skate Sunday, but Wheeler practiced Saturday on the Jets' third line with center Adam Lowry and left wing Chris Thorburn. The 28-year-old has 16 goals and 28 assists, and his 44 points rank third among all Winnipeg scorers.

Winnipeg has a one-point lead on the Minnesota Wild for the first Western Conference wild-card spot into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Jets finish their four-game homestand Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators before beginning a four-game road trip.

Los Angeles has lost its past two games after an eight-game winning streak and is three points behind the Vancouver Canucks for second place in the Pacific Division. The Kings' three-game road trip ends Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers.

Before the Kings flew to Winnipeg, they practiced their special-teams play, according to the Kings website. Though the Kings' penalty kill has allowed one goal in its past 11 games (25-for-26), their power play is 1-for-11 in its past four games.

The website also reported that defenseman Robyn Regehr skated after being hit in the hand/wrist by a shot in a 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. Los Angeles did not have a morning skate Sunday and Regehr's status for the game is not confirmed.

Goaltender Jonathan Quick is expected to start for Los Angeles. Winnipeg goaltender Michael Hutchinson is expected to start for the sixth time in the past seven games.
