CALGARY - Northern Ontario's Brad Jacobs won his fourth in a row to open the Canadian men's curling championship.

The 2013 Canadian champion and reigning Olympic champions downed Jamie Koe of Northwest Territories 9-4 in the afternoon draw.

Northern Ontario is alone at 4-0 because Brad Gushue of Newfoundland and Labrador dropped his first game in a 6-3 loss to B.C.'s Jim Cotter.

In other games, Team Canada's John Morris stole two in the 10th end to beat New Brunswick's Jeremy Mallais 6-5 and Quebec's Jean-Michel Menard edged Prince Edward Island's Adam Casey 6-5.

Gushue falls to 3-1, with Saskatchewan's Steve Laycock and Ontario's Mark Kean both 2-1. B.C., P.E.I., Team Canada and Quebec are all 2-2.

Alberta's Kevin Koe and Manitoba's Reid Carruthers are 1-2 heading into the evening draw. New Brunswick is 1-3 and Northwest Territories is winless in four games.
