ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Charlie Coyle scored and Devan Dubnyk stopped Mike Hoffman in the fifth round of the shootout to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 3-2 win against the Ottawa Senators at Xcel Energy Center on Tuesday.
Defenseman Matt Dumba scored two goals in the second period for the Wild, who have won three in a row and are 14-2-1 in their past 17 games.
The loss ended Ottawa's five-game winning streak.
Dubnyk made 31 saves on 33 shots through regulation in his 21st consecutive start, a new Wild record. He then stopped three of five Senators shooters in the tiebreaker.
Dumba scored his first goal of the night 52 seconds into the second period. Mikael Granlund gathered in a defensive-zone turnover by the Senators at the right circle and feathered a cross-zone pass to Dumba, who one-timed a slap shot over goalie Andrew Hammond's blocker.
Dumba scored again at 8:05, jamming in a rebound on the doorstep at 8:05 for his sixth goal. Chris Stewart got the first assist in his first game with Minnesota after being acquired in a trade from the Buffalo Sabres on Monday. Granlund also had assist for his 14th career multipoint game.
The Senators pulled back within one goal less than 30 seconds later when Mika Zibanejad scored off a turnover at the blue line by Minnesota's Justin Fontaine. Defenseman Patrick Wiercioch held the zone and passed along the left wall to Bobby Ryan, who sent a bouncing puck over Wild defenseman Jordan Leopold's stick to Zibanejad alone in the slot for a snap shot that beat Dubnyk blocker side at 8:33.
Ryan tied the game at 2-2 at 11:48, scoring on a one-timer off a nice passing play from Hoffman and defenseman Erik Karlsson.
Hammond made 36 saves, including two on breakaways in overtime. The loss was the first of the 27-year-old rookie's career after he won his first five starts.
