{allcanada} Capitals acquire Glencross from Flames: report

The Washington Capitals have acquired forward Curtis Glencross from the Calgary Flames for a second- and third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, according to TSN.

In 53 games for the Flames this season, Glencross had nine goals and 28 points. He averaged more than 16 minutes of ice time per game.

The Flames (70 points) are tied for third with the Los Angeles Kings in the Pacific Division and trail the Minnesota Wild for the second Western Conference wild-card spot into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Capitals were looking to add a top-six forward heading into the NHL Trade Deadline on March 2 at 3 p.m. Coach Barry Trotz has shuffled forwards on his top line next to center Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin for most of the season.

Washington (76 points) holds the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and trails the New York Islanders by eight points for first place in the Metropolitan Division.
