BLACKHAWKS (44-24-6) at JETS (39-24-12)

TV: WGN, CITY

Season series: The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 in overtime at MTS Centre on Feb. 6. The Jets won each of the first three games in regulation. Winnipeg goaltender Michael Hutchinson is 3-0-1 with a 1.23 goals-against average and a .961 save percentage. Jets captain Andrew Ladd has a goal and four assists.

Blackhawks team scope: Chicago opens a back-to-back set trying to fend off the Minnesota Wild and maintain its hold on third place in the Central Division. The Blackhawks, who were one point ahead of the Wild entering Saturday, host the Los Angeles Kings on Monday. They have lost three of their past four games, allowing 14 goals over that span. No further information was available Saturday on the status of defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson, who appeared to be injured on a hit late in the third period of a 5-2 home loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday. Coach Joel Quenneville said after the game that he did not believe Hjalmarsson sustained a serious injury, according to the Blackhawks website. Goaltender Corey Crawford was pulled in the first period after allowing four goals on 13 shots. The Blackhawks power play is 1-for-12 in the past six games.

Jets team scope: Coach Paul Maurice said that injured left wing Mathieu Perreault may be able to play Sunday, according to the Jets website. Perreault has not played since Feb. 16, when he sustained a lower-body injury. Maurice said goaltender Ondrej Pavelec will start. Maurice also said that center Bryan Little (upper body) and defenseman Ben Chiarot (upper body) "are in the very-close range" to returning to the lineup. Little has missed 10 consecutive games because of his injury, and Chiarot 14. The Jets have won six of their past seven and continue their four-game homestand having won 12 of their past 16 games at MTS Centre (12-2-2). Winnipeg holds the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference and trails Minnesota by three points for the first wild card; the Calgary Flames are three points behind Winnipeg. The Jets continue their homestand against the New York Rangers on Tuesday.
