Season series: The Winnipeg Jets won the first two games of the season series on the road against the Dallas Stars before Dallas won 5-2 at MTS Centre on Jan. 31. Stars defenseman John Klingberg (two goals, two assists) and injured center Tyler Seguin (one goal, three assists) lead all players in the season series with four points.
Stars team scope: Dallas finishes a two-game road trip that began with a 6-2 loss against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. Dallas has lost three consecutive games (0-2-1). After allowing six third-period goals at Minnesota, the Stars have given up 10 third-period goals in their past two losses. Dallas has lost four of its past five games since a three-game winning streak and is six points behind Minnesota for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference. "I know how tough it is getting," coach Lindy Ruff told the Stars website. "It's no secret. We've got to go on a real good run. It's still there. We've got to win some games." Left wing Travis Moen (upper body) missed his third consecutive game Sunday, and Seguin (knee) and right wing Patrick Eaves (concussion) each missed his fifth consecutive game.
Jets team scope: Winnipeg has allowed nine goal in its past two games, which were losses. Defenseman Ben Chiarot was injured in the third period of the Jets' 4-3 overtime loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Chiarot, who had surgery Sunday, will not return to the lineup until April and was placed on injured reserve Monday. Right wing Blake Wheeler, who was hit by a shot in the leg Feb. 19 against the Washington Capitals, did not practice Monday. If Wheeler does not dress, Dustin Byfuglien will remain a forward. The Jets recalled center Eric O'Dell from St. John's of the American Hockey League on Monday. O'Dell has 14 goals and 14 assists in 37 AHL games this season. He played 30 games with Winnipeg last season and had three goals and four assists.
