Season series: Goaltender Craig Anderson made 34 saves to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 2-0 victory against the New Jersey Devils in the second game of the series on Dec. 17 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Kyle Turris scored two goals.

Senators team scope: Anderson (hand), who is on the injured reserve list, will not travel to New Jersey and replacement Robin Lehner will make his second straight start, according to coach Dave Cameron. Lehner made 35 saves in a 7-2 victory against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday to end a personal five-game losing streak. Cameron also confirmed that defenseman Chris Phillips won't be in the lineup in order to break the franchise's all-time games played record on home ice against the Washington Capitals on Thursday. Phillips is tied with Daniel Alfredsson with 1,178 games played for the Senators. He has spent his entire career in Ottawa after being drafted No. 1 in 1996 by the Senators. Forward Bobby Ryan has three goals and 11 points in his past nine games.

Devils team scope: The line combinations that interim co-coach Lou Lamoriello had in place in a 3-1 victory against the Florida Panthers on Saturday remained intact in practice Monday. Defenseman Mark Fraser was the only player not practicing and is resting, according to the Devils. Lamoriello expects Fraser in the lineup and hasn't made any decision on whether defenseman Eric Gelinas will serve as a healthy scratch a second straight game. Goaltender Cory Schneider, who is 17-19-5 with a 2.36 goals-against average and .922 save percentage, will make his NHL-leading 44th start.
