JETS (28-18-10) at PREDATORS (36-12-6)

TV: TSN3

Season series: The Nashville Predators, behind two goals from James Neal and a goal and two assists from Mike Ribeiro, have won two of three against the Winnipeg Jets this season. Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec is 1-2-0 with a 1.70 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage.

Jets team scope: The Jets have won their past two games to take a five-point lead on the first Western Conference wild-card spot for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the first blockbuster trade of general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff's tenure dominated Wednesday. With defenseman Zach Bogosian and injured left wing Evander Kane off to the Buffalo Sabres in the trade, coach Paul Maurice will have to rearrange his forward lines and defensive pairings to accommodate newly acquired defenseman Tyler Myers and right wing Drew Stafford. Maurice said he will wait until Thursday to unveil his new lineup, but did announce Dustin Byfuglien will again return to the Winnipeg blue line. Byfuglien had spent the past three games at right wing after Kane's season-ending shoulder surgery last week. Pavelec is a possibility to start for the Jets as Maurice continues his goaltending rotation. The Jets visit the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday to finish a two-game road trip.

Predators team scope: The Predators have won three consecutive games and five of their past six after a 3-2 home win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday. Nashville's 22 home wins tie them for first in the NHL with Tampa Bay. Forward Colin Wilson missed his second consecutive game with an upper-body injury, as Viktor Stalberg replaced him. Defenseman Mattias Ekholm missed the game because of an upper-body injury, and rookie Anthony Bitetto replaced him. Nashville ranks 15th on the penalty kill; however, since Jan. 27, Nashville has killed off 29 of 30 opposing power plays in a span of nine games. The Predators are 20-1-4 when they score first, the fourth-best (by winning percentage) in the League. Goaltender Pekka Rinne's 31 wins lead the League. A visit from the New Jersey Devils on Saturday will be the third game of Nashville's four-game homestand.
