FLYERS (26-24-11) at MAPLE LEAFS (24-31-5)

TV: TVA SPORTS, CSN-PH, TSN4

Season series: The Philadelphia Flyers can sweep the season series against the Toronto Maple Leafs with a win. In the previous game in Toronto, Claude Giroux had two goals and two assists, and Jakub Voracek had four assists, in the Flyers' 7-4 win Dec. 20. The Flyers have won three straight against the Maple Leafs.

Flyers team scope: Goaltender Anthony Stolarz was returned to Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League on Wednesday, which means Steve Mason will be ready to dress for the game either as the starter or the backup to Rob Zepp. Mason had missed the previous eight games after having arthroscopic surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee, which he injured in the second period of a game Feb. 8 against the Washington Capitals. In Mason's absence, Zepp and Ray Emery, who is out with a lower-body injury, have helped the Flyers go 3-2-3. It's also likely forward Vincent Lecavalier will miss a fourth straight game as a healthy scratch. "I am working hard in practice, try to be ready and try to be loose when I come back and not be a road block out there," Lecavalier told CSNPhilly.com. Lecavalier has gone 19 games without a goal, the longest drought of his NHL career.

Maple Leafs team scope: Defenseman Dion Phaneuf said Wednesday he is ready to return to the lineup for the first time since Jan. 21 because of a hand injury. "I feel good," he told the Maple Leafs website. "I'm as ready as I'm going to be. I feel that I'm at a point where I'm comfortable to come back and looking forward to getting back and playing games." The Maple Leafs went 2-8-2 in Phaneuf's absence. Coach Peter Horachek said Phaneuf would have his minutes watched but expected him to play about 22 minutes. "Have to be a little bit careful," Horachek said. "It's not going to be low minutes. I don't think you can get up to the 26-, 27-minute area. Try to keep him around 22. That's a lot for most people. Have to watch him and see where he is. … We'll have to be smart about it but we'll watch him closely." The Maple Leafs could have forward Zach Sill in the lineup Thursday; he was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday in a trade for forward Daniel Winnik.
