{allcanada} Canadiens trade Sekac to Ducks for Smith-Pelly

The Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday traded rookie forward Jiri Sekac to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Devante Smith-Pelly.

Sekac, 22, has seven goals and 16 points in 50 games. He also took part in the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition last month.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward never was drafted and signed with the Canadiens on July 1 after spending the previous two seasons playing for Lev Praha in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Smith-Pelly, 22, was a second-round pick (No. 42) of the Ducks in the 2010 NHL Draft. He has five goals and 17 points in 54 games this season; last season he had 10 points in 19 games last season, and five goals in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

In parts of four NHL seasons, Smith-Pelly has 14 goals and 40 points in 129 games.
