STARS (21-18-7) at CANADIENS (29-13-3)
TV: FS-SW, RDS, SNE
Season series: Tyler Seguin scored two goals and assisted on another when the Dallas Stars defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 in their previous game. The Stars outshot the Canadiens 29-17.
Stars team scope: This is the start of a three-game road trip for Dallas, which trails the Calgary Flames by four points for the Western Conference's second wild-card spot for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Seguin, who had two goals and four points for Team Toews in a 17-12 win against Team Foligno at the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game, tweeted Monday he'll be set for this game despite a roundabout travel schedule necessitated by a winter storm passing through the northeast. "Columbus to Washington to Ottawa to Montreal," Seguin tweeted. "I don't miss snow. At least I'll get there in time for the game tomorrow night!" He followed up later in the day with a photo of his arrival at the airport. Defenseman Trevor Daley and forward Brett Ritchie, who entered the All-Star break with undisclosed injuries, practiced Monday. Forward Erik Cole (upper body) was on the ice in a red no-contact jersey. Defensemen Jamie Oleksiak and Jyrki Jokipakka were recalled from Texas of the American Hockey League.
Canadiens team scope: Coach Michel Therrien confirmed goalie Carey Price will get the start. Price made 12 saves on 16 shots for Team Foligno in the second period of the All-Star Game and was on his way back from Columbus on Monday along with forward Jiri Sekac, one of six rookies selected to take part in the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday. Current McGill Redmen goaltender Jacob Gervais-Chouinard filled in at practice for Price for the second time this season. The McGill campus is located a short walk from Bell Centre. Forward PA Parenteau, out with a concussion, was not at practice. Montreal spent much of practice working on the power play. The Canadiens are 7-for-18 with the man advantage over the past four games. Defenseman P.K. Subban has a power-play goal in three of the past four games. Forward Alex Galchenyuk has goals in two straight.
