JETS (24-14-8) at PENGUINS (26-12-8)

TV: TSN3, ROOT

Season series: The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 in a shootout Nov. 6 at MTS Centre. Penguins center Brandon Sutter had a goal and two assists. Jets left wing Evander Kane had a goal and an assist.

Jets team scope: Winnipeg reconvened for practice Monday before it hits the road for a two-game Pennsylvania trip this week. The Jets are on a five-game winning streak. Goaltender Michael Hutchinson shut out the Columbus Blue Jackets in a 4-0 win on Jan. 21 in the Jets' final game before the All-Star break. Left wing Mathieu Perreault, who has missed two games after he sustained an upper-body injury at the Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 16, practiced Monday. He remains on injured reserve but is eligible to return Tuesday. Perreault's 29 points (15 goals) rank fifth on the Jets. Defenseman Mark Stuart did not play against Columbus. The Jets finish their road trip Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers before returning home to host the Dallas Stars on Saturday.

Penguins team scope: Pittsburgh has lost four in a row after the Blackhawks defeated them 3-2 in a shootout at Consol Energy Center on Jan. 21. Centers Sidney Crosby (lower body) and Evgeni Malkin (lower body) will not play against Winnipeg; each was injured before the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game and did not participate in the event. The Penguins placed Malkin on injured reserve Monday, when they also recalled forwards Andrew Ebbett, Bryan Rust and Scott Wilson and defenseman Scott Harrington from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League. Ebbett has a goal and five assists in 18 games with Pittsburgh this season. Ebbett also has seven goals and 13 assists in 20 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Harrington, Rust and Wilson are three of the six Penguins who have made their NHL debuts this season. The Penguins website reported that left wing Blake Comeau (upper body) and right wing Patric Hornqvist (upper body) skated Monday; right wing David Perron did not finish practice because of a cold, but he is expected to play Tuesday. Defenseman Kris Letang, who missed the game against Chicago after he sustained a concussion on a hit from behind by Flyers forward Zac Rinaldo on Jan. 20, also practiced and might play Tuesday, according to the Penguins. Pittsburgh has won five in a row against Winnipeg.
