PANTHERS (18-11-9) at FLAMES (21-17-3)

TV: SN1, FS-F

Season series: The Calgary Flames are trying for a two-game sweep after defeating the Florida Panthers at BB&T Center two months ago. Mark Giordano and Johnny Gaudreau each had a goal and two assists for the Flames. Panthers forward Scottie Upshall had two goals and an assist.

Panthers team scope: Florida has won three of four so far on its six-game road trip after a 3-1 victory against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. Goalie Roberto Luongo made 32 saves in his first game in Vancouver since he was traded to the Panthers last March. The Rogers Arena crowd gave him a standing ovation and serenaded him with the familiar "Loo" chant after several of his saves. "I played here for eight years," he said. "I gave my heart and soul the whole time. There was some ups and downs obviously, but at the end of the day, I am glad the positive is remembered more than the negative." With the Panthers playing the second half of a back-to-back set, Al Montoya will likely get the start Friday. Montoya allowed five goals on 34 shots in his last start, Dec. 31 against the New York Rangers. Forward Jonathan Huberdeau scored two goals against Vancouver; he has three goals in six games after scoring three in his first 29.

Flames team scope: Rookie center Josh Jooris and goalie Karri Ramo were placed on injured reserve Thursday. Each has an upper-body injury. Jooris, who has 14 points in 31 games, has been dealing with the injury since before the holiday break, but it flared up in a 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday, according to the Flames website. Ramo was injured in a collision with defenseman Raphael Diaz midway through the second period against Detroit. Calgary recalled center Markus Granlund and goalie Joni Ortio from Adirondack of the American Hockey League. Center Mikael Backlund had a goal and an assist Wednesday in his first game back since being sidelined by an abdominal injury in late October. Jiri Hudler, who leads the Flames with 38 points, missed the game to be with his wife, Hannah, while she delivered their first child. Calgary has lost two straight following a four-game winning streak.
