Chicago Blackhawks forward Daniel Carcillo waived his right to an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety regarding his hit from behind on Winnipeg's Mathieu Perreault.

The league says that Carcillo will now have a telephone hearing on Monday.

By offering Carcillo an in-person hearing, the league can suspend him for five or more games.

The incident occurred with roughly 10 seconds remaining in the second period of the Jets' 4-2 win on Friday night, when Carcillo cross-checked Perreault from behind. He received a minor penalty for cross-checking on the play.

Perreault did not return to the game. On Sunday the team said that he would likely be out until after the All-Star break.

In 31 games with the Blackhawks this season, Carcillo has four goals and three assists as well as 32 penalty minutes.

The 29-year-old received a six-game suspension in the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs for physical abuse of an official while with the New York Rangers.
