Season series: Tomas Plekanec had four points, P.K. Subban had three points, and Max Pacioretty had a combined 12 shots in the three games the Montreal Canadiens played against the Columbus Blue Jackets last season. Montreal won the first two games, one in a shootout, before losing the third. Sergei Bobrovsky made 25 saves March 20 in Columbus' lone win against Montreal last season.
Canadiens team scope: The Canadiens practiced Tuesday in Montreal before departing for Columbus. Coach Michel Therrien said that if everything goes well, forward Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau should return Wednesday against the Blue Jackets after missing the past three games because of a concussion. Montreal worked on its power play for part of its practice Tuesday after going 1-for-21 during a seven-game span. "We haven't been where wanted on the power play and we're all guilty of not doing our job well," Parenteau said after practicing Tuesday. "We have to be more poised with the puck and more confident." Carey Price will start in goal Wednesday and defenseman Mike Weaver could return to the lineup after sitting out the past 12 games, seven of them as a healthy scratch.
Blue Jackets team scope: Forwards Scott Hartnell, Cam Atkinson and Mark Letestu were back at practice Tuesday after sitting out Monday. Defenseman Ryan Murray practiced for the second straight day; he has been out since Nov. 1 because of a knee injury that has kept him out of all but four games this season. Columbus did not make any changes to its lines and defensive pairings, according to the Columbus Dispatch, which also reported the Blue Jackets are expected to recall a forward from Springfield of the American Hockey League on Tuesday. The Blue Jackets will play the second of three straight games at home Wednesday before playing six straight road games beginning Jan. 17.
