{allcanada} Stars erase three-goal deficit, defeat Oilers in shootout

EDMONTON -- Forward Tyler Seguin's two third-period goals helped the Dallas Stars battle back from a 5-2 deficit in a 6-5 shootout win against the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place on Sunday.

Center Shawn Horcoff scored the shootout winner for the Stars, extending their winning streak to four games.

Seguin and Vernon Fiddler also scored in the shootout for Dallas. Jordan Eberle and Teddy Purcell scored in the shootout for the Oilers, whose losing streak extends to seven games.

After trailing 5-2 with 6:43 remaining in the second period, Dallas began their comeback when Jamie Benn scored a power-play goal, his 10th, with 21 seconds left.

The Stars followed that up with two goals by Seguin, his 23rd and 24th, in the third period to send the game to overtime.

Goalie Kari Lehtonen gave up four goals on 19 shots before being pulled in the second period. Anders Lindback made nine saves in relief for the Stars to earn the win.

Erik Cole and Shawn Horcoff also scored for Dallas in regulation.

Forwards Taylor Hall and Mark Arcobello each had two goals for the Oilers.

Hall scored on a rebound to give the Oilers the lead at 2:58 of the first period on the power play.

Horcoff tied the game at 6:36 gaining position in front of the net and lifting a rebound over Ben Scrivens (40 saves).

Cole gave the Stars a 2-1 lead at 10:20 of the period, beating a diving Scrivens from the face-off circle.

Purcell tied the game 11 seconds into the second period, getting fortunate bounce off Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski and beating Lehtonen.

Arcobello scored his first at 2:44 to give the Oilers a 3-2 lead, burying a shot after Lehtonen kicked the puck to him. His second goal was scored in a similar fashion at 9:19 to give Edmonton a 4-2 lead. The Stars were caught on a bad line change allowing forward Steven Pinizzotto an open shot on net. Lehtonen, kicked out Pinizzotto's shot, but it bounced to Arcobello in front.

Lehtonen was pulled after the goal.

Hall put the Oilers up 5-2 at 13:17 on a breakaway, beating Lindback between the pads.

The Stars improved to 2-1 in the shootout this season.
