TORONTO — Milos Raonic was named Tennis Canada male player of the year on Friday, taking the honour for the fourth year in a row.

Raonic, from Thornhill, Ont., made his first career Grand Slam semifinal last season and qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals for the first time. The world No. 8 was also named Tennis Canada's most improved male player.

Wimbledon doubles champion Vasek Pospisil was named male doubles player of the year. He teamed with American Jack Sock to win the title at the All England Club last summer.

"I am so impressed by how Milos has composed himself throughout his career and how he is able to get better and better every year," Tennis Canada president Kelly Murumets said in a release. "He continues to outdo himself and he put together an extraordinary season, one of the best for a Canadian tennis player ever. He and Vasek are both excellent role models to our growing base of tennis fans in Canada, and I wish them both the best in their very bright futures. Congratulations to Milos and Vasek on absolutely incredible years."

Eugenie Bouchard of Westmount, Que., was named female player of the year earlier in the week.
