MAPLE LEAFS (20-13-3) at LIGHTNING (22-11-4)

TV: SNO, SUN

Season series: James van Riemsdyk scored two goals to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs past the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2 at Air Canada Centre on Nov. 20. Toronto goalie Jonathan Bernier made 26 saves. Steven Stamkos and Alex Killorn each scored for Tampa Bay. The Lightning have won six of the past nine games against the Maple Leafs at Amalie Arena.

Maple Leafs team scope: Bernier was scratched from an expected start Sunday in Toronto's 6-4 loss to the Florida Panthers at BB&T Center because of flu-like symptoms. The Maple Leafs said in a statement that he was not showing signs of the mumps. "We don't think it's something that's going to strike our team, we hope not anyways, but you never know," coach Randy Carlyle told the Maple Leafs website. "We're just going to continue to try to do what we do. Things like this do happen through the course of the season." James Reimer allowed five goals on 33 shots against Florida, and van Riemsdyk and Joffrey Lupul each had two points. Toronto has lost four of its past five games, allowing 21 goals over that stretch. Phil Kessel hasn't scored a goal in the past five games, but has 10 goals and 25 points in 31 games against Tampa Bay in his career.

Lightning team scope: Ben Bishop made 25 saves in a 2-1 win against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Bishop missed the previous four games because of a lower-body injury, and coach Jon Cooper was glad to have the 6-foot-7 goaltender back in net. "He's a presence in the net, and I'm sure teams have come in here and are probably thinking they've got to pick a corner a little bit better than normal because of his size in the net," Cooper told Fox Sports Florida on Sunday. "He's in control back there. ... He gives us a lot of confidence when he's on the ice. So it's really good to have him back." Nikita Kucherov scored his 15th goal against Carolina; he has six goals and five assists in his past eight games. Rookie Jonathan Drouin did not play Saturday because of an illness. Defenseman Jason Garrison is close to returning after sustaining an undisclosed injury against the New York Islanders on Dec. 20. "Monday is absolutely a reasonable possibility," Garrison told the Lightning website Saturday.
