Season series: The Chicago Blackhawks may need to defeat goalie James Reimer in order to avoid being swept by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Reimer made 45 saves in a 3-2 Toronto victory at Air Canada Center, including 26 in the third period. Reimer was the backup Saturday but relieved starter Jonathan Bernier in the third period of a 7-4 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Maple Leafs team scope: Toronto has lost two straight since a season-high six consecutive wins. The Maple Leafs, who lost their first game when scoring first (14-1-0), led 2-0 and 3-2 in the first period Saturday. They allowed five unanswered goals before scoring their last goal. Bernier let in all seven goals before Reimer replaced him. This game starts a season-long stretch of seven straight road games for Toronto, which is 14-3-2 against teams over .500.

Blackhawks team scope: It took a nine-round shootout and 39 saves by Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, but Chicago had a 13-game win streak against Columbus snapped at Nationwide Arena on Saturday. Chicago had won nine straight games at Columbus. Goalie Corey Crawford looked sharp facing 19 shots in his first start since being sidelined for two weeks with an ankle injury. Crawford, who could start again, allowed two goals in the shootout, including one to former teammate Jeremy Morin. They were the first goals Chicago has allowed in six shootouts.
