The BC Lions have inked defensive back Ronnie Yell to a two-year contract extension.

Yell debuted for the Lions this year, starting 16 games and making 39 tackles and forcing two fumbles. He also had two interceptions, returning both for touchdowns.

The 23-year-old originally joined the Lions' practice roster last season.

He was named CFL Player of the Week in Week 6.
