CALGARY — Canada's Elisabeth Vathje won her first skeleton World Cup gold medal Friday in only her second race.

The 20-year-old from Calgary led after the first heat and finished with a two-run time of one minute 55.31 seconds.

Vathje was just over three-tenths of a second ahead of Laura Deas of Britain at Canada Olympic Park. Tina Hermann of Germany was third.

Vathje was second in her World Cup debut last week in Lake Placid, N.Y., and leads the overall standings.

The Dukars brothers from Latvia took gold and silver in men's skeleton. Olympic silver medallist Martins Dukars posted a two-run time of one minute 51.06 seconds for his second straight win this season. Tomass Dukars was second in 1:51.96

Sungbin Yun of South Korea earned bronze for his country's first World Cup medal in a sliding sport.
