SINGAPORE — Canadians Ryan Cochrane and Coleman Allen each won a silver medal on Sunday to conclude the seventh and final stop on the FINA short course swimming circuit.
In the men's 1500-metre freestyle, Hungary's Gergely Gyurta held the lead from the start and won the gold medal in 14 minutes 28.35 seconds. Cochrane, a two-time Olympic medallist from Victoria, followed in 14:35.97 and Myles Brown of South Africa was third in 14:38.80.
In the men's 200-metre individual medley, Dalya Seto of Japan was the winner in 1:54.14, Allen, from Vancouver, followed in 1:56.44 and Takeharu Fujimori of Japan was third in 1:56.68. Victoria's Alec Page was fifth in 1:58.29.
Other Canadian finalists were Allen in fifth in the 100-metre butterfly, Calgary's Russell Wood fifth in the 200-metre backstroke and eighth in the 50-metre backstroke and Edmonton's Luke Peddie of Edmonton and Vancouver's Yuri Kisil seventh and eighth in the 50-metre freestyle.
World championship medallist Hilary Caldwell, from Victoria, was seventh in the women's 100-metre backstroke.
