Season series: The Vancouver Canucks won two of three games against the Nashville Predators last season. Henrik Sedin had two assists in the most recent game, a 2-0 Canucks victory at Rogers Arena on March 19. Eddie Lack, who will likely be in goal Sunday with Ryan Miller having played Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers, made 30 saves to earn the shutout.

Predators team scope: Defenseman Anton Volchenkov will have a phone hearing Sunday with the NHL Department of Player Safety for an elbow and hit to the head against Calgary Flames forward Michael Ferland on Friday. No penalty was called on the play. Volchenkov, who has been paired with Seth Jones, has two assists and is plus-2 in 10 games this season, his first with the Predators. Nashville has split the first two of its season-high six-game road trip. The Predators defeated the Oilers 4-1 on Wednesday before losing to the Flames 4-3. Center Craig Smith scored his fourth goal in Calgary; he has three goals in the past two games. Forward James Neal has six goals in his past five games, including two against the Flames; he leads the Predators with seven goals.

Canucks team scope: Vancouver has won four in a row following its 3-2 victory against the Oilers on Saturday. Derek Dorsett's go-ahead, shorthanded goal early in the third period stood up as the game-winner. It was Vancouver's first shorthanded goal this season. Three of Vancouver's eight wins have come against Edmonton. The Canucks, who rank seventh in the League on the power play (22.0 percent) and fifth on the penalty kill (88.1 percent), will play their next four games on the road, including three against the California teams, after this one. Center Nick Bonino, who was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in the Ryan Kesler trade during the summer, has at least a point in four of five games; he has five points (two goals) during that span.
