SENATORS (5-2-2) at BRUINS (6-6-0)

TV: TVA, CITY, NESN

Season series: The Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators are meeting for the first time in 2014-15. Last season the teams split their season series 2-2-0. Center Patrice Bergeron led the Bruins with seven points in four games. Linemate Brad Marchand had six points for the Bruins. Senators forward Bobby Ryan scored three goals in the four games. The Bruins have won the past two games on home ice against Ottawa; the Senators haven't won at TD Garden since April 28, 2013.

Senators team scope: The Senators got a late goal from forward Mika Zibanejad on Thursday to force overtime and earn a point in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. Ottawa has lost three of its past four games following a four-game winning streak. Goaltender Craig Anderson made 35 saves on 39 shots Thursday and has a .934 save percentage this season. Goaltender Robin Lehner, who has a .939 save percentage, missed the game Thursday to attend the birth of his child. Coach Paul MacLean probably will have a decision to make about his starter against the Bruins. Forward Clarke MacArthur scored his Ottawa-best fifth goal of the season against the Blackhawks.

Bruins team scope: The Bruins defeated the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in overtime Thursday to improve to 2-1-0 since defenseman Zdeno Chara left the lineup because of a knee injury. With defensemen Kevan Miller (shoulder) and Torey Krug (finger) also out of the lineup, Boston went with three recent American Hockey League call-ups, Joe Morrow, Zach Trotman and David Warsofsky, as part of their defense corps, and they helped limited the Sabres to 15 shots on goal. Marchand, who was a game-time decision because of a minor injury, matched his season point total from the previous 11 games with three points (two goals, one assist). The Bruins juggled their offensive lines and it worked out well.
