Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Cody Franson does not have structural damage to his left knee but his return to the ice is unknown, TSN reported Wednesday.

Coach Randy Carlyle told the network a timetable can't be determined until the swelling from the injury goes down. Franson was injured on a hit from Buffalo Sabres forward Torrey Mitchell in a preseason game Monday.

TSN reported, "Franson walked with a heavy limp on Wednesday but was able to ride the bike lightly."

It said forward David Booth, who sustained a fractured foot Monday and is out 4-6 weeks, wore a walking boot and used crutches during team-bonding events.
