With the conference finals finished, the draft order for the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft has been established for the 28 teams watching with the rest of hockey fans around the world.
The first 13 slots were set by the NHL Draft Lottery, which was held April 15 and won by the Florida Panthers.
In addition, the New Jersey Devils were awarded pick No. 30 as relief from an earlier penalty for circumventing the salary cap when the team signed Ilya Kovalchuk in 2010.
Among teams that made the Stanley Cup Playoffs, non-division winners eliminated in the first two rounds were placed in inverse order of regular-season points, followed by division winners in inverse order of regular-season points.
The Montreal Canadiens will pick 26th after losing to the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final, and the Chicago Blackhawks will pick 27th after losing to the Los Angeles Kings in the West final.
The final two spots will be determined based on the result of the Stanley Cup Final. The loser will pick 28th while the Cup champion will pick 29th.
Two teams currently have multiple first-round picks. The Anaheim Ducks have their pick at No. 24 and also have the No. 10 pick from the Ottawa Senators, acquired last summer as part of the Bobby Ryan trade.
The Tampa Bay Lightning also have two selections; their pick at No. 19 and the New York Rangers' selection from the Martin St. Louis trade. The pick was transferred to the Lightning when the Rangers advanced to the Eastern Conference Final.
The Buffalo Sabres have the No. 2 pick, but could acquire another. The Sabres also could get the 21st pick from the St. Louis Blues if the Blues trade the rights to goaltender Ryan Miller prior to the Blues making their pick at the draft.
Buffalo could have had a third first-round pick, but the New York Islanders opted to keep the No. 5 pick. New York had the option following the Thomas Vanek trade of keeping their 2014 first pick or sending it to the Sabres if the pick happened to be in the top 10. By deciding to keep this year's pick, the Islanders will send their 2015 first-round pick to the Sabres to complete the trade.
Here is where 28 of the 30 teams will pick when the first round of the draft starts June 27 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia:
10. Anaheim Ducks (from Ottawa Senators)
12. Phoenix Coyotes
14. Dallas Stars
18. Minnesota Wild
20. San Jose Sharks
21. St. Louis Blues
24. Anaheim Ducks
25. Boston Bruins
28. Tampa Bay Lightning (from New York Rangers)*
29. Los Angeles Kings*
* - to be determined after Stanley Cup Final
