REGINA - The most prolific receiver in CFL history is calling it a career.
Slotback Geroy Simon announced his retirement Wednesday after 15 seasons.
The 38-year-old native of Johnstown, Pa., played 12 years with the B.C. Lions but finished his career with Saskatchewan, helping the Roughriders win the Grey Cup last year.
Simon spent his first two CFL seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and retires as the league's all-time leader in catches (1,029) and yards (16,352).
Simon was named the league's outstanding player in 2006 after registering 105 catches for 1,856 yards and 15 TDs with B.C., finishing that season with the first of three career Grey Cup title wins.
The six-foot, 198-pound former Maryland star was a model of consistency with B.C., registering nine straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons before ending that streak in 2012 when he recorded 54 catches for 700 yards.
B.C. traded Simon, a six-time CFL all-star, to Saskatchewan on Jan. 24, 2014 for receiver Justin Harper and a 2014 third-round pick.
Simon missed Saskatchewan's first three regular-season games due to injury and finished the year with 40 catches for 565 yards and three TDs.
But that was enough to surpass Ben Cahoon (1,017) as the CFL's all-time receptions leader.
Simon finished his career off in style, scoring two TDs in Saskatchewan's 45-23 win over Hamilton in the Grey Cup at Mosaic Stadium, just the Riders' fourth all-time CFL championship.
