{allcanada} Burnett, Smith qualify for trampoline WC final

AROSA, Switzerland — Jason Burnett qualified for the men’s individual final at the Trampoline World Cup on Friday while fellow Canadian Samantha Smith made the cut in the women’s individual event.

Burnett, the 2008 Olympic silver medallist from Toronto, placed fourth in the preliminary round.

Dong Dong, Xiao Tu and Lei Gao, all of China, took the top three positions. Sebastien St-Germain of Montreal and brothers Kyle and Keegan Soehn of Red Deer, Alta., did not qualify.

Smith, a native of Kelowna, B.C., was seventh in the women’s preliminary round. Dan Li and Xingping Zhong of China took the top spots and Hanna Harchonak of Bulgaria was third.

Samantha Sendel of Aurora, Ont., and Alexandria Giesbrecht of Calgary did not qualify.

The finals will be held Saturday.
